WOMEN IN GOLF
Mollymook Golf Club is proud to be the first Club on the South Coast of NSW to sign the R&A Women in Golf Charter.
The Women in Golf Charter was launched by the R&A in 2018 to cultivate a more inclusive culture within golf on a global scale. The Charter is designed to support the development and advancement of women and girls, enabling them to reach their full potential at all levels of the sport and across the industry. The Australian PGA, WPGA, and Golf Australia are committed supporters of the Charter, and there has been significant engagement from golf clubs eager to participate.
“We have consistently advocated for equal rights and access for all members of our golf community. Mollymook Golf Club is committed to pursuing opportunities to increase participation for women and girls in golf.”
Mollymook Golf Club was among the first in Australia to implement gender neutral competitions on a daily basis in 2020 and prior to that had led the way with the introduction of multi-tee options back in 2017. For many years now Mollymook has provided statistics to other Clubs in NSW who have gone on to adopt similar practices.
“Our Club has long upheld inclusivity through competition formats, prize distribution, membership policies, and equal tee sheet access. Attaining Signatory Club status is an important recognition of these ongoing efforts.”
Our efforts are yielding results with Mollymook’s Hilltop course again hosting the Women’s NSW Open Regional Qualifier later this year, and the Women’s Club Championships were recently held on a Sunday for the first time.
Mollymook also offers a unique opportunity for women and juniors to participate in golf through its 9-hole, Par 3 Beachside course. Following the renovation and conversion to a Par 3 layout in 2021, the course has become increasingly popular among families, younger players, and many female golfers who now frequent the fairways.
The Club looks forward to utilising our resources including our four certified PGA Professionals to proactively look for new opportunities to help women and girls become a growing part of our golf community.
