Hilltop Golf

Hilltop - the ultimate challenge!

The Championship Hilltop course is one for the true golfing enthusiast.

Featuring 18 holes amongst vast bushland beauty, this premier course is situated so that you can still hear the waves rolling in on the pristine Mollymook Beach. Hilltop is affectionately known as “The Ultimate Challenge” and is ranked 3rd in Australia’s Favourite Golf Courses for 2020, as voted by the public, in Golf Australia Magazine.

With meandering tree-lined fairways and undulating greens, Hilltop provides a stern test for any golfer, however, regardless of how your game is going, you’ll always enjoy the walk and serenity with an abundance of native flora and fauna.

At 6,225 metres from the championship tees, Hilltop is a challenge in terms of accuracy and distance on the fairways. The greens too pose a dramatic test being both large and undulating. Once on the putting surface there may still be a good deal of golf left. Designed in 1977 the course features water challenges from creeks and dams and moderate bunkering.

Men’s and Ladies competitions are played on Saturday and Ladies day is Tuesday. Thursday and Sunday are set aside for mixed competitions with the Veterans running competitions on Wednesday.

Hilltop is available to the public 7 days a week although bookings are essential. The latest fleet of golf carts, buggies and clubs are available for hire.

To book your next game, contact the Pro Shop on (02) 4455 2055 for “The Ultimate Challenge”.

The Hilltop practice fairway is available to all members and consists of a 200m long fairway. The tee has both grassed and artificial turf tee areas to practice from. This area also includes a large practice bunker. The practice fairway is frequented by members warming up before golf or enjoying their own practice session. Our teaching pros also conduct private lessons and group clinics in these areas. You must use your own balls for the practice areas.

Practice Nets
Golf Nets are a great way to warm up before a game of golf. Hilltop has three available which you can access whenever you like.

Practice Putting Green
Mollymook Golf Club has a reputation for its fast and difficult greens. Our practice putting green provides you with the same green conditions that you experience “on course” and is a great way to warm up. This is also the common area where members meet up with their playing partners and friends prior to their round of golf.

Working closely with ‘CH3’, Mario gained valuable coaching experience during his time with the Harmon family.

During the recent development of his career, Mario is focusing his attention and skills more on the management side of golf. Mark did not get his first handicap until the age of 30 when he made the decision to take up golf and joined Gordon Golf Club in 1993. It quickly became apparent he had a skill for this game and loved it. Mark achieved a scratch handicap after about 10 years and moved to Monash Country Club in 2007 to improve his game further and play in various NSW amateur events.

In January 2016 at age 52, Mark qualified onto the Australian Legends Tour. On the Legend’s Tour Mark has achieved over 20 Top 10 finishes and has had a best round of 7 under in the 1st round of the Victorian Senior Masters in 2017.

He is now doing a bridging course to complete his training and become a full vocational/teaching professional. Working with the members and team at Mollymook Golf Club is a key part to completing his training. The Legends Tour has been severely interrupted over the last 2 years but Mark is keen to get back out there when his study and work schedule allows.

Chris McLean – Associate Professional

Chris has been a keen golfer since he was 13 years old when he joined Mollymook Golf Club. His talent for the game was apparent early on achieving a 2 year scholarship to the Academy of Sport. His love for the game was set!

Chris is fulfilling his long held dream of turning professional, embarking on his traineeship with the Professional Golfers’ Association and Mollymook Golf Club. He is really enjoying being back in Mollymook and surrounded by golf in all he does; working, playing, training.
